The Perth Soprano in Colourful Penang

Last week I had the most incredible time in Penang attending two of my dearest friends wedding. I had the great honour of being asked to be the Brides Maid of Honour and also to sing. The wedding took place at Georgetown’s stunning boutique hotel, Seven Terraces. (If you are ever staying in Penang, I can highly recommend it!) The incredibly helpful manager of the hotel (incidently a former opera singer) introduced me to the hotels locally trained pianist Jason Chua, who performs for the hotel restaurant Kebaya. We rehearsed during the week and performed O Mio Babbino Caro for the wedding party. After the service the wedding party did a procession through the streets of Georgetown, followed by a dinner party in the Seven Terrace’s restaurant, and a dance-off on the dance floor by the pool. Georgetown has so much charm and there are so many hidden gems to be discovered. Hawker markets, hidden bars, Street Art on every corner, amazing colonial architecture, temples and a buzzing atmosphere all brought the senses alive! I can’t wait to get back to Penang and to discover more of its treasures. Congratulations to Anna and Curtis. It was a stunning wedding with so many beautiful, special touches. Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day. Em xx
