Last weekend saw the best of the best in food and wine come together for the Gourmet Escape in Western Australia’s South West. From Busselton to Augusta, 50 events took place over the three day festival.
I was lucky enough to perform at two of the events this year.
The first of which was The Godfather Dinner at the beautiful Vasse Felix winery which saw Marco Pierre White in a Q&A hosted by Joanna Savill over dinner with Head Chef Aaron Carr and Marco’s alumni Jock Zonfrillo (Orana and Street-ADL, Adelaide), Richard Turner (Hawksmoor, London) and Spencer Patrick (Harrison’s, Port Douglas).
The second event I performed at with pianist Tommaso Pollio was held at one the South West’s most prestigious private gardens, the Margaret Rivers’ Secret Garden. Guests enjoyed exclusive access to the gardens and sat amongst the flowering crab apple trees, iris and roses for a long table lunch prepared by No. 23 on The World’s 50 Best Restaurant list, Vladimir Mukhin (White Rabbit, Moscow) and local chef, George Cooper from Food by the Chef, matched to a selection of Moss Wood wines.
